CBD, a miracle or a hoax?

Hello all!

I haven't written recently, but this is just something I can't ignore!

I recently began to incorporate CBD oil into my pain relieving regimen for patients and I must say, the results have me super excited! Patients are loving the effects, decreased pain, better sleep, and more energy!

However, since this miraculous herb is hemp-derived many are still skeptical. Here're some reasons why you shouldn't be!

The science behind CBD

What is CBD? CBD is the abbreviation for cannbidiol, the primary non-psychoactic component of the plant Cannabis Sativa (aka marijuana). However, many confuse it with THC (the component of the marijuana plant that does have psychotic affects and is why makes people "high")

CBD vs. THC

Both compound have health benefits: THC has antispasmodic, analgesic, anti-tenor, anti-inflammatory, ad can stimulate the appetite. CBD also has anti-inflammatory benefits as well as anticonvulsant, antipsychotic, and neuroprotective properties.

THC is often limited for medical use because of the psychoactive side effects, but since CBD does not affect the mind in that way, it is making leaps and bounds through the health and wellness industry!

THC has also been known to cause anxiety and even paranoia in some, however CBD actually works to counteract those side effects!

Proven benefits of CBD

Relieves Pain and inflammation

One of the most known benefits of CBD is it's natural pain relieving and anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have found that CBD significantly suppressed chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain in rodent spinal cords.

Multiple sclerosis

A 2007 meta-analysis conducted in Canada, revealed the combination of CBD and THC buccal spray was found to alleviate and treat neuropathic pain in MS!

Reduces Anxiety

Several studies have shown Cannabidiol reduces anxiety in patients with social anxiety disorders. Researchers also suggest that it may also be effective for panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Helps to fight cancer

Several reports demonstrate the CBD contains pro-apoptotic effects that inhibit cancer cell migration, adhesion and invasion. This study also suggests that CBD inhibited the growth of certain breast tumors.

In addition to fighting breast cancer cells, research also suggests that CBD can be used to inhibit the growth of lung and colon cancer cells, as well as a treatment for leukemia.

Relieves Nausea

Over 80 cannabinoid compounds found in marijuana, both THC and CBD help rid nausea and vomiting.

Seizures, Neurological Disorders, and Muscle Spasms

Many studies have been performed and proven that CBD can help with seizures and even schizophrenia and dystonia (muscle spasms).

Does CBD show up on drug tests?

Well, if the CBD you are consuming is 100% THC free, then you shouldn't be worries. Drug tests are looking to find THC. However, if you are worried, and are scheduled to take a drug test, it is always worth it to call to see if CBD is a concern.

Be well, keep your heart open! I am hear to answer questions to the best of my knowledge on not just this subject, but any other health and body queries. :)
